JOB PURPOSE
Under general supervision, performs basic patient care under the delegation of the Physician and according to their scope of practice and the rules and regulations of their respective licensing authority and administrative/clerical duties.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Nursing Supervisor
Directs: Non-supervisory

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Interviews and records patient history, measures and records vital signs such as height, weight, BMI, head circumference, current medications, pulse oximetry level and patient comfort level, collects, performs, documents and reports results of CLIA waived lab tests including, but not limited to: urine dip, pregnancy tests, fingerstick blood glucose levels, fecal occult blood tests, hematcrits and rapid strep tests and collects, prepares and documents specimen collection.

Administers medications per MA formulary.

Dismisses patient at the end of the appointment.

Participates in orientation of new employees and attends mandatory meetings as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Medical Assistant practices within the scope of responsibilities assigned to this role

Provide skills within the scope of responsibilities assigned to this role

Physical Abilities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly is required to:
Carry, grasp, handle, feel, lift up to 25 lbs., listen, reach, see, smell, stand, stoop, talk, walk

The employee frequently is required to:
Balance, kneel, sit

The employee occasionally is required to:
Climb, pull, push

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma and/or GED AND Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program
(Not a C.N.A program)

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION
Certificate or diploma verifying graduation from a Medical Assistant Program current healthcare provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card and will be required to maintain a current CPR certification during employment. Candidates must successfully pass a Medical Assistant Competency Exam prior or at time of interview.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The person performing this job will be exposed to:
Confined work space, airborne pathogens, blood borne pathogens, noise, keeping others safe
