Nurse Abstractor

Responsible for reviewing patient medical records to assure quality standards are achieved and that documentation is within compliance with established regulatory agencies. Identifies opportunities for improvement during point of care record review and/or during data abstraction and facilitates onsite improvements as directed by the Director of Quality Management. Abstracts moderate to complex data elements for Core Measures and enters into required data base(s) in a timely and accurate fashion. Prefer recent cardiac experience in an acute care setting. Will working with cardiology/cardio-thoracic physicians. Requirements: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Education may be substituted for relevant nursing experience in accordance to policy. Joint Commission and CMS knowledge preferred. Quality processes and core measures expereience preferred. Ability to analyze and interpret data; ability to organize workflow, function independently and manage own time and work tasks; strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to deal calmly, courteously and efficiently with people. Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency and compile moderately complex reports. Computer skills minimally include data entry abilities, Excel and Word. Current RN license in State of New Mexico
